Senna(Mother Tincture)
Trituration or tincture of the dried leaves.
Common Name: Cassia Acutifolia
Causes & Symptoms for Senna
- It is said to have a good laxative effect, hence used to aid the constipation complaints.
- Senna is used to relieve the colic complaints felt in the children.
- Complaints of gas and wind in the children, muscular weakness.
- Exhaustion with weakness is characteristic of Senna.
- Heat of the hands and the palms is an indication for Senna.
Mind and Head
- Inability to think and no desire to work.
- Heaviness of the head as if pressed down is relieved with Senna.
Nose
- Senna has a characteristic symptom of frequent repeated sneezing with exhausting and panting breathing.
- Excess sneezing that cause heat of the hands.
Mouth and Throat
- Small vesicles that cause cuts of the lips.
Stomach and abdomen
- Nausea with inclination to vomit, with sinking sensation felt in the stomach.
- Emptiness and uneasiness felt in the stomach.
Stool and Anus
- Diarrhoea with straining and prolapsed rectum and sore anus
- Sleeplessness, with cries and tossing, especially in the case of infants.
Side effects of Senna
- There are no such side effects. But every medicine should be taken following the rules as given.

- Take 10 drops in half cup of water three times a day.
